Parents, grandparents and life long partners Alvin and Mildred Boyd celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on May 8.

They are just one year away from celebrating there 70th anniversary which is also considered the platinum wedding anniversary.

  • Free movies will be shown at Jones Park Center Canopy.
  • Gulfport police will be present at all events. No alcohol, tobacco use, soliciting or vagrancy is allowed.
  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Movies may be canceled due to extreme weather— rainy/wet day events will be held in Barksdale Pavilion.
  • Limited parking at Jones Park is available. Additional parking located north of hwy 90. Enter by foot at hwy 90/20th Ave. entrance.

Harrison County Youth Court has a new partnership with Goodwill Industries.

Judge Margaret Alfonso and Jim Collins from Goodwill, appeared before county supervisors Monday to explain the project. Youth court will help promote donations to Goodwill Industries.

In Memory of Dennis A. Boyd, who passed away four years ago today February 24.  He is missed by all of his family and friends who will never forget him.

Dennis Boyd was born in Hattiesburg, MS, but grew up and spent most of his life in Gulfport.  After he retired, he moved to Perkinston,MS where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Dennis was a devoted Father to Jason Boyd and Julie Boyd, Son to Mildred and Alvin Boyd, PaPaw to Zachary Davis, and Courtney and Christopher Boyd, and brother to Joyce Jones, Marilyn Thornton, and Ted Boyd.

Free rapid HIV testing for the public on Feb. 7

In observance of National Black HIV AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD), the South Mississippi AIDS Task Force (SMATF) will offer free rapid HIV testing to the public from 9am-12pm and from 2pm-5pm Thursday, February 7 at its office located at 2756 Fernwood Road in Biloxi. Ten-dollar ($10) Wal-Mart gift cards will be issued to the first 65 “first time” testers.

National Black HIV AIDS Awareness Day is an initiative that was established thirteen years ago by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and their partnerships with various community-based organizations.

LB police to take part in Ruck March benefiting two burn victims

Tyler and Katelyn Myers are being treated at a burn center in Augusta, GA after suffering major second and third degree burns on their bodies from a fire accident at their home.

Both children require multiple surgeries and will need to remain in the hospital’s care for an extended period of time.

Their parents, Shannon and Elisha Myers, are in need of financial help to cover lodging and travel expenses, as well as medical bills.
